Nowadays, people are more welcoming of same-sex couples. However, the same thing cannot be said just a few years back, and Robin Roberts knows this all too well. Like so many well-known figures of her time, she spent years hiding her own identity behind the closet. The TV personality started her career back in 1983, but it wasn’t until 2013 that she was able to come out of the closet after a full 30 years of hiding.

When she did finally come out to the public, she also unveiled her relationship with the massage therapist Amber Laign. According to sources, the couple had been together for 16 years before they told the rest of the world about their relationship. Laign is said to be very supportive of Roberts’ career, and the broadcaster is the same. However, the two have yet to announce any plans about getting married. Still, we believe they deserve all the credit in the world for braving through the challenges of their relationship.
