Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey first met at the Teen Choice Awards back in 2005. He appeared in her song video Bye, Bye three years later, and flames flared. After only a few weeks of dating, the iconic singer and Wild’ n Out host astonished fans by getting married. In 2011, they welcomed twins Monroe and Moroccan, but in 2014, they shocked everyone yet again by announcing their separation.

Over the years, there have been suspicions that Cannon has been disloyal to Carey and that he is always working and away from his family too much. However, the actor denied cheating and stated that the reason for their breakup was because they were no longer progressing as a pair. Despite their separation, Cannon and Carey have remained friends. Cannon said to a credited source that he and his ex-wife can co-parent so well as they have always prioritized their twins. “When you put your children first, you understand that it is all unconditional love,” he explained, adding, “All of the other stuff just falls apart.”
