Michael Douglas & Diandra Luker
It’s been 24 years since that mercenary narrative defined a period and 11 since Michael Douglas separated with Diandra Luker to marry Welsh bombshell, Catherine Zeta-Jones, resulting in one of the most expensive divorce settlements in Hollywood history: a whopping $45-million plus the couple’s Santa Barbara, California, mansion.
Luker met Douglas while promoting his picture One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. Then 19 years old, Luker had no idea who Douglas was, but they struck up a conversation that led to two days of being together and a marriage proposal only two weeks later. They married in March 1977 and welcomed Cameron, their only child, the following year. While the specific cause of their breakup is unknown, credits to the 1995 statement by People magazine, stated in 1995 that Douglas’ substance usage and infertility had damaged their relationship. However, despite Douglas’ harsh statements, the ex-couples appear to have maintained a close connection and have both gone on and had children with other people.
